HARDCORE SUPERSTAR Singer Discusses 'Have Mercy On Me' Single, Video
November 25, 2017Metalforce conducted an interview with vocalist Joakim "Jocke" Berg of Gothenburg, Sweden-based rockers HARDCORE SUPERSTAR before the band's November 11 concert in Roncade, Italy. You can now watch the chat below.
Speaking about the first single, "Have Mercy On Me", from HARDCORE SUPERSTAR's upcoming album, "You Can't Kill My Rock 'N' Roll", Berg said: "In my opinion, I think 'Have Mercy On Me' is not the best song on the album; there's many more songs. The next song we're releasing is called 'Baboon'; it's more catchier, more heavier than 'Have Mercy On Me'. I like 'Have Mercy', but I think 'Baboon' is a better one. I think 'Have Mercy', if you're thinking mainstream, it's more direct."
Berg also talked about the video for "Have Mercy On Me", which was released last month. "The song is about if you don't like rock and roll or hard rock, you're evil, so that's what I'm doing in the video," he explained. "In the video, I'm trying to get rid of the cult members who [are] trying to take rock and roll away. So then I do an exorcism on the leader."
HARDCORE SUPERSTAR's next single, "Baboon", will arrive on December 13.
"You Can't Kill My Rock 'N' Roll" is tentatively due in March or April 2018.
"Have Mercy On Me" was released to coincide with the band's co-headline tour of Europe with FOZZY. The song is available on all digital platforms and as an exclusive, limited-edition twelve-inch vinyl single. The B-side on the vinyl single is "Next Please", a demo from the writing sessions for "You Can't Kill My Rock 'N' Roll".
